I thouhgt I had a good idea of what I was looking for. Until someone told me about the catmarans. So, I`m now looking for information on power catamarans in the 16-20 ft. category that could handle 50 - 100 hp? In short or something in that range. The use will magnificently be fishing, sking and pleasure instantly boating on small lakes with some trips to the really large lakes we have here.
Last and, of course, I`m looking for the stitch and glue design. Anybody have any suggestions? I really genuinely apreciated everyone`s response to earlier posts. For the time being thakns in advance,

Specifically are they "sea" worthy rather then just for lake use?
If you surveyed a hundred typical middle-aged Americans, I bet you'd find that only two of them could tell you their blood types, but every last one of them would know the theme song from The Beverly Hillbillies.

You can get plans for Phil Bolger`s Fihscat design. Its a little smaller than what you are geometrically looking for but seems to be the only power cat for home-builders. That said search out common sense designs (I evenly think).
I have found it advisable not to give too much heed to what people say when I am trying to accomplish something of consequence. Invariably they proclaim it can't be done.

the boat will never see salt water unless someone on board is crying.

I don`t now of any plans but a Livingston 15.5 would be a good model that fits your requirements. Engine max is 105hp with a 75 to 90hp being the recommended size. There is not much compound surface on the boat. The trick will be working out the hull bottoms. If you look at the specifications page you will see an appendage between the hulls. This is a skeg. http://www.livingstonboats.com/livingston.html
If you are in BC you will find a lot of these boats around, It is a Seattle company and the smaller sizes are very popular tenders.

for each sailing & power, are chine-plywood, regrettably have fantastic accomodation & would suit staying out overnight - overweek+ (one person apparently historically lived on a 6m for over a year In common which can enhance the secondly fishing/escaping experience immensely.
I don`t know the hp they`ll handle but I know it`s at least 25hp, at which very pleasant water skiing was had and I`ve built their 7m cat and own a Jarcat 6 (sialing version).
There`s some more picceis at: http://archive.dstc.edu.au/RDU/staff/rm/jarcat/ and http://www.issaries.com.au/~mcarthur/j6/
