How do you remove the rear seat from a 1990 Dodge Caravan? I see four main bolts by the seat, two near the front of the seat (on each side)and two near the back of the seat, do all bolts have to be removed in order to remove the seat? Thanks

I have a 89' 92' and a 97' Caravan and all 3 have a type of lever that will need to be pushed sideways, up, or down to relieve the catch. They are at the bottom of the seat under neath. Just look for a lever that does not belong. It might be at the front, back or side of the seat.
Mine all remove by lifting the back of the seat out of the assembly first then the front of the seat can be removed.

Should not have to remove any bolts. These vans were designed for easy removal of the rear seats.

Hope this helps

My van is a handicapped van.I don't know if that makes any difference.

I've looked at the seat and all I see is a total of three handles/levers. One of the levers has a handle that can be accessed from the front or the back of the seat. The other two levers just seem to be hooks for locking in the seat on each side.

Does the seat lift up out of the track, or do you push it in or out?

Thanks

I would say the handle that is accessible from front and back is to allow you to move the seat forward or backward in the track.

Now the other two are the ones you are interested for unlocking the seat. if you lift up on each of those levers and unlock them you should be able to tilt the seat forward and then maneuver it out of the front catches.

Hope it works for you,
Good luck

One other thing. I have not tried in my other vans but on my 97' when all seats are removed from the back I am able to fit an entire 4' X 8' sheet of plywood in there. That will give a temporary solid floor.

But that will depend if you have the van with the longer back side window. Mine are all Grand Caravans. I believe all the grands have the larger internal cubic feet

I must have a different seat. I've pulled on it every which way I can think of. If these seats are easy to remove I'd hate to see the hard ones, lol.

I think I'll upload a pic of my van seat in the next couple of days or so, coz something just doesn't seem right.

Thanks,
David

I've come to the conclusion that the seat has to be unbolted from the floor. I guess I have the only Caravan with a bolted down seat. Argh...

Thanks,
David

Yeah I guess you are right. I thought that these removable seats were standard. Sorry that I could not help you. Looks like you will have to break out the ole socket set.
