Hi, I just bought a 1990 Dodge Caravan. It has a wheelchair lift in it that I don't need. I would like to remove it but I can't find any info on the net on how to do that. If anyone could tell me how to remove it, or where I can get the info on how to remove it I would appreciate it. Thanks

Greetings davester welcome to the Forum.

I'm not sure that there is a R/R for something like that, it probably was with the Unit when it was new.

Apparently you don't need it, but, maybe you should leave it on the Van until you sell it. Be a good way to demonstrate it.

Do you still have a back Bumper on the Van?

Have a good Day !

Yes it still has the back bumper on it.

I bought the van so I can move music equipment with it. Looks like removing the lift might be a big job.

Thanks,
Dave

davester,

I agree, from those I've seen, it's a major job to install or remove.

BUT, do you think that with some minor modifications, you could use it to assist loading the Van with something that's heavy!

They have similar lifts called "Tommy Lifts" which are used for such. Would that work for you?

Have a good Day !

Thats an awesome idea using that for lifting heavy objects. That will keep him from needing it when the heavy object puts him in a chair

I may just leave it in for a while. After looking at it more closely it looks like it shouldn't be that difficult to take it out. There are about eight bolts at the base and one bolt at the top. The only thing is, it appears to be very heavy.

Thanks,
David

Hi Davester,
I don't know where you are at but if you're anywhere near West Virginia and want to get the lift taken out I would be willing to do it for you if you don't want the lift. I can use it for my son.
