I read something about it being on the lefthand side of the engine compartment. Does that mean anything to you?

That is where the Diagnostic connector is located. I want to know the process to start the on-board diagnostic check that is built into the truck and probably other Ford vehicles of the year.

steveo, could THIS help a little maybe?

I think it is not specifically for the 1991 model, but perhaps there are similarities?
