1999 Concours, occasional skip, poor idle. Mechanic
says coolant being drawn into engine. I used less than 1 pint coolant in two weeks of fairly hard driving. Mechanic advises getting rid via trade in. Any suggestion for additive that might buy me a little time?

A head gasket leak could destroy the whole engine.
Not it will but can.
If your going to continue to drive it try a rad stop leak.

"Rad Seal Radiator Stop Leak"
Description - A powdered metallic sealer designed to instantly seal leaks in radiators, motor blocks, cylinder heads and freeze plugs. Provides permanent and flexible seals. Prevents settling stone, makes work of the pomp more quite. Seals elastic joints. Does not reduce circulation, may be used with another cooling fluids as well as with water. Efficiency of this product does not depend from the capacity of the cooling system, but from the size of the leak.

Or you can try a "head gasket sealer"

"Blue Devil - Head Gasket Sealant"
Seals leaks for the following:
Blown Head Gaskets
Warped or Cracked Heads
Heater Cores
and Freeze Plugs

Blue Devil is non-clogging and contains no solid or particulate matter which can be harmful to the engine. It can be used on gasoline or diesel engines and bonds to metal, aluminum, cast alloy, or plastic.

And there are diff products availabel.
