Good Morning,
My 1999 Olds Silohette Mini-Van seems to want to shut down after I start it initially. It does a putt-putt kind of thing. When I depress the gas pedal it kicks back up, then it starsts to putt-putt again like it is going to shut down. I got a new fuel pump about a year ago. I recently got a tune-up consisting of a new fuel & air filter; spark plugs and oil change. I never had any transmission work. Seems to do fine after it's warmed up. Although, once it did the putt-putt thing after I drove it for a bit while I was slowing down.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

sound like it could be ignition module or some one leaned on engine when doing the work. check for broken vaccume lines.connectors pulled out part way if you did not have the problem before tune up and know you do its related to the tune up work good place to start.check line on map sensor it may be disconnected.egr valve may be unpluged connector might be disturbed ?????.its anyones guess at this point plug wires connected to right plugs.i would start their.

simple test turn on your head lights low bean turn on your heater only not a/c blower on low trun on your radio.let engine warm up down to idle fore a second or two.then only long enough to see engine idle under load remove ground wire blk wire neg post no it will not damage computor because alternater is under load will not harm electrical system.i have done this fore twenty years and never damaged a computor this is why you use judgement on long enough to see if alt is working two or three seconds.this will max out the alternator at 14.04 volts 100 amps if car stays running alt ok.no problem done it this way for years.as long the alt is under load it can not damage circuits this is what it does all the time normally.

Good Evening,
I just wanted to let you know that the problem with my Oldsmobile was the battery. I got a new battery and the car runs great.
Thank you again for all your help.
