whats up guys ! hoping i can get some help here ...

I own a 2003 nissan sentra gxe w/ 110,000 miles , my issue is a slow or hesitant start up, sometimes i need to crank up 2 or 3 times when this issue arrises.

I have tried many system and fuel injector cleaners , some mechanics tell me that the fuel filters in these models are in the gas tank , making this issue difficult to resolve. I have tried the fuel system GUMOUT treatment from walmart and the car works fine for about 2 - 3 weeks then this start up issue begins again. I live in Phoenix AZ when the weather is cool the issue is less but when the weather heats up this issue is really bad...

Today I poured some Lucas treatment into a almost empty tank and then filled up with some Chevron Techron supreme... gonna see how things act in the next few days ..

Any insight from any one ?

Peace

This is a common problem on the 2003 Nissan Sentra. Many blogs on this one. It can be a number of things.

There was a recall on the cam timing sensor, but only on certain vin#'s...

Fuel pump is shot...

Filter clogged...

and believe it or not, check your engine coolant temperature sensor. If it's shot, it can cause a slew of air/fuel mixture problems.

Other than that, I'm stuck myself. Below is my experience so far...

Had the same problem with stalling, sputtering, and cranking 3 to 4 times to get it to start cold. Finally took it to the dealer. They told me the fuel pump was shot, and filter was packed with dirt. After $800.00, a new fuel pump, and new filter, the car ran fine for about a week and then started doing the same thing again. Now, my engine is throwing a code telling me that one of my cylinders is misfiring. Im sure the next thing the dealer will tell me is that I need to replace the injectors.

I'll update if I have any joy in the future...

I'd the same cylinders is misfiring, jst change the spark plugs and ask for a reset the check light and no more trobles with cilinders misfiring.

hey guys thanks for your help with this. the issue turned out to be the fuel pump. It wasn't an economical fix basically I had to replace the whole pump due to having to special order the piece from Nissan ... total it hit me for about 400 dollars but the car works fine for now even in the blazing heat of AZ .. thanks again Peace

I haved two nissans 1997 and 2003 GXE, both cars have the same problems when I try to start the cars
I have to do it about tree times.

Today the 2003 don't start I looks like a big problem. The mechanic came to my house and he can't fix it.

I have to call a a tow truck to take the car to the mechanic tomorrow.
