Has any one worked on, (heard of) or have any information on Scoty Craft
Boats? From what I can say they're mostly pre-1970 boats, but I've found one that is in good conditoin in need of Power and cabin doubtfully outfiutting and am personally interested.

My only concern is its seaworthness. One person compared it to the Bertram
Moppie, is this a fair compiarison?

Thanks in advance!!

Yes jtsmuuth - I have a Scotty Craft - I attached a picture.
This boat is a 1973 - all I do know is that they were made in Miami, Fla from mid-60's to mid 70's.
The one I have - was abandoned in my marina for 4 years. The marina made me a deal - take the boat and keep it there free for one whole season - so I did just that- I dropped in 2 Crusader 270's last summer and she runs and handles real nice.

The folks in the marina who knew the owner all said it is a great deep water boat - they have been out with the old owner numerous times in bad weather, rough seas, and it handled the water great.

I have these pics posted on other sites hoping someone would know about it or even have some printed material on them - so far - nothing. It does get a lot of attention though and the feedback I am getting is very positive about her construction and its lines.

If either one of us gets any "hits" on it - I pass it on to you and hope you do the same.

By the way - I am on the New Jersey Shore.

This is really weird Everything on the internet about scotty craft boats is for boats up to 1972 and then......... nothing anymore (except for people selling their 1973 models). There must be some kind of marina or factory where these boats were made with an address etc.... ?

Yes - you are right - I found this site a while ago http://www.iboats.com/Scottie_Craft_Boats/bp/20br1392

It stops at 1972. Also - it spells the company Scottie Craft with the "ie"

My registration says SCO reg number xxxxxx and 1973. I do remember seeing a 1974 listed for sale last summer - no details.

Mine does have a HIN number which I would like to research but don't know where to start.

The boats are very well made - and seaworthy. Someone out there has got to know about them or have some printed info on them etc etc. - even an article somewhere would be nice.

I am happy to see that folks are reading these posts though - makes me feel like there is a chance someone will pick up on it.

Thank you.

Exactly. That's where I found it as well. The 'ie' might be a spelling mistake...

I see the results of ScottIE turning up on google are far more than the ScottY.

Anyway, I will keep looking because this is really weird.

Go with the experience...

Thank you for visiting our website...we hope that you find what you're fishing for!

Scotty's Sportfishing provides private boat charters for fishing and sightseeing out of beautiful Avalon Harbor on Catalina Island, CA.

Captain Scotty has been fishing the waters surrounding Catalina Island for over sixteen years; as a commercial fisherman, a charter boat captain, and a private boater.
He is a tournament-winning angler from the team Fire Hatt.

Our charters are fun for first-timers and fishing fanatics alike...all levels of experience are welcome. Captain Scotty has been teaching people how to fish for years - including our 3-yr old!

We are a family run, home based business, with Captain Scotty's expertise on the water, and Rebecca on the phone to help you plan a great trip.

We have one boat, and one captain, so it is always best to make a reservation ahead of time.

Take advantage of our experience to create a great experience of your own! Call Rebecca (Business Manager, Co-owner, and Mommy) at
(310) 510-1570 to book your charter today.

Our boat, Persevere, is a beautiful 2007 Parker - a 21 foot boat with a comfortable cabin. There is room for parties up to five, with a head, plenty of shade and great deck space.

She is perfect for fishing! We love our Parker - we think you will too!
We provide all the rod and reels, tackle, and bait you will need for your fishing adventure. If you would like to bring food and/or beverages we have a cooler on board.

A California ocean fishing license is required for ages 16 and older, so don't forget to pick one up before your charter! Fishing licenses along with lots of other great fishy stuff are available at our local tackle shop, High Tide Traders on Crescent Ave.

Our boat can take parties up to 5 people with a combined weight up to 800 pounds. She is a perfect size for families.

In addition to fishing, we do sightseeing tours up and down the Catalina coastline. As well as trips to the Isthmus area.
If you would like a private tour of the island from a different perspective, give us a call!

Dude I own a 1970 27' Scottie-Craft m-27 Miami It's spelled IE It should have a emblem on both sides under the driver and passinger side windows. They are sea worthy and ride just like a old Bertram. Mine has 2 X straight six Cyl. 250 CU IN
165 HP with Mercruiser outdrives. 100 gal. fuel tank hardtop without bridge.
I think they built boats from like 1965 thru 1973 or 74

Hi

The Scottie we have is located in Anchorage. We bought her in Wis. but the rudder was knocked off in transit to Alaska and we never noticed it untill we arrived. We belong to a Teen Suicide Prevention program and plan to use her to access the villages.

Awesome, So the Scottie has inboards ! I spoke to a old timer mechanic
and he was suprised to hear of a inboard in a scottie, but I also heard of a Scottie with inboards before. I'd guess you'll have to get with a machine shop to Fab. one, You know the size of the shaft because the bearning carrier should still be on the transom.
It might be impossable to find one off a Scottie.

Everything is back to normal in most places but there are areas that are still pretty bad, Like in Chalmette, East of New Orleans Where the crude oil tank busted thousands of gallons of crude oil spewed and floated into the area where houses were. Some people just don't want to move back to those houses, most are being tore down.
I found my 22' Bayquest bayboat upside down with a large crude oil stripe stained across the console and side of the boat. it took a while to get the oil stain off. It's clean now and running but need some carb. work done.

Yes, oil spill disasters are the worst to get rid of (in a responsible manner). I hope the whole area will be back to what it was soon... Though, of course, the wound of what happened can never disappear.

Capt dre17 - I'll post additional photos including the interior cabin are asap.

My Scottie is 28 ft. according to the Registration - the marina operator keeps saying it's 29 ft. but I think 28 is right.

It has 2 Crusader 270's ( Chevy 350 Engines ) Inboard V Drive. It has a Velvet Drive transmission with a drive shaft with universal joints that connect to the V drive gear box. The shafts are about 2 foot long and when under way are very smooth with little or no vibration. All in all - a nice set up.

When I got the boat it was missing an engine and I didn't want to rely on the one left in it. They were OMC's - again Chevy 350's. The Engine mounts are unusual too as they were one for each front and rear that the engines sit on - sort of like a cradle for the engines.

It has a very deep V hull that is very rounded on the V itself - not as sharp a V as most boats.

So far - I've had it out in pretty rough water and it cut right threw the swells and didn't rock and roll as much as other boats I've had.

I can't find the HIN number on the transom - there is a live bait well and fish box built into the transom area.

Anyway - if anyone can supply or has any other info on this Mfg/boat - I'd would appreciate hearing from you.
