hello dan:
this is a common problem 91 lumina uses either 4t60 to 4t60-e.to keep from typing a long editiorial over and over.i have written several articiles on this i have 91 lumina sedan and olds delta 88 did same thing.recommend starting with a total fluid / filter change also add one can of tranny sealer then blend in two bottles of trans-x hot a little at at time over two or three days do not worry about a slight over fill at this time because you need to get as much conditioner as you can through the tranny. my has been one-third over for two years and seen no problem do not freat about it. and refer the the editorials i have written on this web site either under 4t60 tranny on g.m cars.i think after you read my articials you might able to save the tranny.hope you havent gone beond recovery at this point you have nothing to loose.

let me know how you make out and good luck.sound like the govener is hanging up you will need to drive a week or two after servicing till it smooth out.over hall is about 2200.00 U.S dollars.

Thanks Hobbist I hope Dan will check back in and see this. I am sorry I didn't manage to figure out what he meant, but I am grateful you did
