Engine is a 4 banger, Manual Tranny.
First of all, This is for a friends car, lost internet connection...hey what are friends for huh?
Now on to the problem.
His mom was driving the car, drove it a pretty good ways, and on the way back home, she said that it felt that their was a sudden lost of power, but was still able to keep going. It lost all forward movement, and had to get it towed to the house.
Car will start when clutch is pressed in, but is not needed to slide the shifter into gears, although the car will not go into gear, when pressed the clutch goes all the way to the floor, all the fluids levels are checked and rechecked. Any ideas would be a great help.

sounds like something in the tranny broke, it could be anything drom a cv joint, to the clutch.
First thing is to check the cv joints are not broken.
And then check the shift linkage, u should be able to see the linkage under the hood, with the engine off have someone move the shifter and see if the linkage moves.
And let me know.

Alright, sorry it took me so long to get back to ya, busy week,
We did go ahead and checked the linkage, everything moves the way its suppose to move, nice fluid motions, the clutch doesn't feel spongy or anything else.
We can start the car by pushing in the clutch, so the neutral safety switch is working good, lol, you can put the car into first gear second third fourth fifth and release the clutch and still feels like its in neutral, the car will roll backwards down his driveway. Its really got us stumped as to why or whats going on.

Did you check the CV joints.
Does the speedo do anything if the car is in gear and engine running?

No we didn't check the cv joints, but just asking why would the cv joints have anything to do with the car acting like it was stuck in neutral, and the speedo doesn't nothing.
Like I said before, when you moved the shifter on the manual trans, you can just put it in first or what ever gear you want without stepping on the clutch, except reverse, you have to step on the clutch for reverse. Back up lights come on and everything but yet the car doesn't actually go into gear.

OK goinng to say sonething in side the tranny went.
And if it was a broken cv joint the speedo would move, so its something more serious.
So next step is to have a shop look at it.
