i have a 95 chevy s10. the heater core just went out, and today it overheated. after letting it cool down, i filled with water and checked the oil. the dipstick was dry. the oil change was due but not overdue. now the truck will not start. what can i look or listen for to see if i have a cracked head?(i bypassed the heater core). thanks for your help!!

Greetings masazasm welcome to the Forum.

WOW, that's a lot of tough luck at once !

Once you get it started and the oil back in it, leave a little air space in the Radiator.

Then, you might run it by a Radiator Shop.
Most have a "Sniffer" which test the air for any Fuel which has entered the Cooling System. If it test positive, then you got a crack or bad Gasket.
Usually they'll do it for free.
That's a start.

Have a good Day !
