I have a '95 Jeep GC Limited and can't seem to go a week without having problems with this vehicle.

The airconditioner is the huge problem, but now that winter has come along, the heater is missing also. Although, on intermittant days when I've decided to turn it on to defog or just have air blowing, the heater and the air conditioning worked like nothing had ever been wrong.

My cd player/radio display only displays when it's below freezing.

The vehicle shakes when idleing in drive. Sometimes it shakes so hard that it stalls out. It will also stall when in reverse but after letting go of the gas. AND it doesn't do it everyday.

This vehicle has become an enigma to all that encounter it and while still being in college, I'm not wasting anymore money without knowing what is wrong. It has almost hit 192,000 miles (which is probably unheard of for a Jeep) and I plan on getting rid of it in 5-6 months.

Any ideas on what could be wrong or a solution for a quick fix? (which is also probably unheard of)

welcome to the forum waters511, I hope you will like it here

I would suggest you first get the PCM checked for stored codes. It could be a slipperty transmission, it could be many things, but first have those codes checked

Thanks!

I actually ended up taking it to Firestone. They said that it was my Air Intake Motor and did a Fuel System Tune-up. Low and behold - I went to Starbucks on my way back to work and it stalled. =0(

I'm thinking you're right on the transmission, but I didn't have time to check it out - and I lack experience when it comes to vehicles.

They also said that I have two engine mounts broken and my transmission mount is about to break. So that'll be $600 more according to them, IF I let THEM fix it.

I was wondering though. With a slippery transmission, can it slip while in idle and cause the engine to quit? It slipped the other day when I was in 2nd or 3rd... the engine's rpms went high for a few seconds and then everything went back to normal. So there is something wrong with it... I just didn't know if the transmission could actually cause the engine to quit.

As far as I know with a slippery transmission it can slip anytime. But, if you have two broken engine mounts I am afraid that you will have to fix this or let it be fixed. There is no way around it....
