i took my yj in because the 4x4 wasnt engaging the mechanics said someone had removed a bunch of lines etc to the actuator so he removed some cover and put it in permanent 4 wheel for now, What is this going to cost so I can change between 2 and 4 without a mechanic removing the cover and doing it

Greetings shily, welcome to the Forum !

Lines !?, are you sure he didn't say linkage ?

Usually the Xfer is done with a Rod Connection. Bent or broken maybe, but I've never herd of a YJ having "Lines". That suggests Hydraulic, and it's not.

As far as the cost, if it is a Rod, you probably can just buy a new one, and install it yourself. Cotter Keys and some length adjustment will be all you need to do there.
Let us know how ti goes.

Have a good Day !
