Ok, so my stepson couldnt get the key inhis cavalier to turn and start the car, so my old redneck self tore the ignition cylinder out and now the anti-theft system is kicking in and killing the fuel after 5 seconds or so. Is there any way to bypass this?

brillant what did you think antitheft was for.the system is doing what it suppose to do. the shut off sequence is programed into e-prom chip in side the computor, it is not a mechanical disconnect. what you have to do is buy to streering pullers one is to compress center shaft to release c-rings and the other is to pull wheel about a hundred dollars just in pullers which you had to buy anyway to do the job right. if you do not know what your doing you should not have damaged tumbler in the first place. thats your mistake know you have to buy key assembly to, dealer item because of key lock feature. refer to manual to disarm air bags secure lock code built in radio e-prom chip for remote key lock before you disconnect battery.refer to gm manual to proceed.you have caused a real problem for you self for not knowing what your doing no excuse for it.
