I have an Admiral window a/c unit. The fan is making a horribly loud racket. The motor spins freely and does not stop running or slow down. I think it may need to be greased. Does anyone know if the motor is a sealed motor. Here is the model number of the a/c unit AAW-12CR1FHU. Thanks for any help.

can you describe the sound. is it a squealing sound or does it sound like the fan blades are hitting something. the motor is sealed. you could try WD-40 on it.

no its not squealing noise. It sounds more like a grinding noise. Kind of like a the sound of a skateboard riding on concrete or on a continuous rail grind.

does it do it in all the modes including fan only.if it doesn't do it in fan then im aming towards the compressor. if it does it in fan then take the unit out of the window and remove the outside cover(should be instuctions in the manual if you still have it) turn it on fan and see if the blades are rubbing on anything.

blades are not rubbing on anything. I tried putting grease on the rod but didnt help. I found a little hole on the motor housing is this where you can shoot grease into.

does it make the noise in fan only mode. take a can of WD-40 and spray it were the shaft goes into the motor.
