My cd player will not load a CD. It won't even get 1/4 of the way in to the unit.

In the radio mode (am or fm) the display shows that there is already a disc in the unit, but I don't know how to verify that.

When I switch from FM to CD, it reads: E ("empry" and there is nothing to play. When I press the eject button, it kind of grinds away, stops, and then grinds away again.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

remember that this is a car stereo. I hrlf the eject button with no power to the unit. I turned it on and nothing happened. I left it on and pressed eject and got the same grinding noise. What now?

I do undertsand you thinking it is "out of sequence", but how can I get it back in sequence?

Geez, could I have connected wires wrong when I re-installled it? It'ss a unit I've had for quite awhile, but took it out of one vehicle and put it in another. That wouldn't make a lot of sense with the sequencing issue, but I'm willing to try anything.

You are using some terms I'm not familiar with: debris field dirt, old label switch. How do I check the limit switch for debris? By removing outside cover, do you mean take the unit out of the car and take the top of the unit off exposing the cd tray? I need more details on how to do this.
