[b] I have an amana bottom freezer, I let the front and rear filters clog which caused the lower defrost not to work. I have cleaned out the filters. I let the freeze defrost. The freezer now freezes and gets an build up on the inside back of the freezer of Ice which eventually causes the fan that cools the upper fridge to stop blowing cold air. Any ideas? Do I need a defrost thermostat?

It is pretty difficult I think but nothing is impossible. You should also check the defrost timer and the defrost heater, which could also be a source to the problem you are experiencing. It is a bit too complicated to explain in one posting specifically, but this book for instance (like many others) are giving direct guidelines step by step.

(Please don't see this as advertising the book, this is just one of many, so no specific recommendation).
