Appliance repair are expensive. You may decide to just replace the old machine. That woud be a shame, becasue the old ones are built better than the new ones. They are not hard to fix, but some are tricky to get into.

For advice on fixing household appliances, try The Samurai Appliance Repair Man: http://fixitnow.com/who-are-you-and-whats-your-problem- dude/

For parts, he will refer you to Repair Clinic, and they are good: http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/ smartsearch.aspx

You can also find parts on eBay. I bought a fan for my refrigerator from supplystuf on eBay. I emailed to check that the part was right for my model, and got a quick response. I was able to fix it for about $20. Other vendors there are probably good too. Just check their reputation before you buy.
