ariens has a left auger and a right auger the one on the left does not move when started. I looked at the left hand side and there is a screw that goes thru the auger casing and into the shaft it has been sheared off. the one on the left is great i take it these are sheare pins of sort? we ran over a door mat and sucked it up so it jammed. I think thats what caused the bolt and nut to break. How do i get the auger out, Or can i just drill over a half inch and put a new hole thru both casing and shaft is the shaft solid like i think and if it is can i drill thru auger casing and a bit thru shaft and use a set screw. as long as it holds auger casing to shaft. we only use for lite duty snow.....Well and somtimes to eat door mats.

Thanx guys

The right auger on an Ariens 520 will not turn in the snow. Otherwise it turns. I can't see a sheared pin.

do you see a hole were a pin went into. you may have to turn the auger by hand to get the holes to lineup.
