I have a MTD Yard machine 2 storke snowblower. Was using it and all of a sudden the auger stopped (stopped blowing snow) while holding down the auger control handle. I opened the belt cover and removed a broken belt with ridges on it. Is this a Auger belt? can I replace myself? Received quotes for $150 and over to repair. Anyone have experience with this repair/machine?

Hi Bry0523, welcome to the forum

1. remove the cover,
2. release the engagement lever,
3. remove the belt

Hope this answers your question

the engagement lever is the lever that a spring is connected to? After replacing the belt, does the tension have to be adjusted?

Just 2 more questions. I have the belt on. Do the ridges on the belt go facing down and should there be a little slack on the belt?

The answer to that would be to try the snowblower manually (not turning it on, but turning it with your hands and take care they don't get caught, obviously) - that way it is easier to check that out
