I have a 1992 k1500 4.6 chevy truck that I have had trouble with on 1-2 upshifts. It just didn't want to upshift. Luckily I didn't have too drive far. This went on for a few days. I took it to a repair facility for a diagnosis, and they thought it was likely a piece of dirt blocking a passage somewhere. They couldn't tell for sure without a tear down. On the way home the trouble suddenly came clear. I haven't driven the truck since, deceiding what to do.
I am now going to go with the least expensive theory that it was a piece of dirt that later came loose. I have already took the pan off. The fluid looks dark chocolate brown and the filter screen had seen better days also. Before I reassemble, is there anything special I should do, get or look for as a precaution, other than a new screen, fluid and a pan gasket? Any info would be appreciated. The truck has 200,000 miles on it and still runs good. I have already posted this question by mistake under General questions.
