Hello I'm hoping someone has a suggestion.

My back door is stuck closed. It a Multipoint lock (lift the handle to lock)type lock. It was getting a bit stiff and I tried to som WD40 (probably mistake I know.)

Anyway today tried to open the door and it wont open. It feels the top point is not opening.

Attached is a photo, have no idea what to do next. Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Brendan.

Greetings bogbf welcome to the Forum.

House settling/moisture can cause that !

Try wrapping a towel around your Hammer where it won't damage the surface of the door.
Then hold the mechanism in the "open" position, while tapping the area where you feel the bolt is stuck.

Might have to go outside and tap, while someone else holds the handle in position.
My best guess...

Once you get it open, you might use a Rotary File to expand the receiver for the Bolt, where it has more room.

On the WD-40...
It's got a pretty Waxy base. Could give you problems when it's cold (or anytime for that matter). I like the LPS products, if they're available in your area.

Have a good Day !

If you can’t get it open take the hinge pins out and pull/push it off that way. You may be able to better access the handle and locking mechanism this way as well. Good luck.
