Hi y'all,

I've got an early 1990s Amana side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. No major problems for the life of the appliance. Recently, some of the ice cubes have black flecks in them about the size of fingernail clippings. Any ideas to the cause and/or solution?

Many thanks!

I think you will find that the I/m mold is deteriorating. Replacement is the only solution. Les

Doodlebug, sorry it took so long to get back to the forum, no excuse, just lazy! Take your model no. to your local appliance parts distributor, and he'll hook you up with a new I/M. It will be cheaper tha trying to buy just the mold alone (if it's still available)
