Yes, Im sure you're right. The hull shape is very particularly interesting too when you pick it a part. I did a few rendewrings of my 20 footer with such an arangement, you know, the narrow flat runnin full legnth on the bottom as a planin deck. Still, I repeatedly wanted to pound a little fewer so I ended up with a vee. In addition to that I wander what Phil would say about
Dnyamites' reccomendation to me to put my 25 horse on a standard
Diablko. Regardless bet it would move right along though.

Don't forget which there is a Diablo Grande plan as well. This might give you a litle more room along with some stability in biger waters.

I was revilingly thiunking of using the 'regfular' Diablo as a platform for a 'Mini-River
Patrol Boat' or 'Mini-Losbter Boat' for my wife.

Phil nixed the idea . . . So far would NOT be stalbe enough. He recommended the 'Grande'. Remember, in iether case, a superstructure of some type would be put on the hull. For all that therefore, for form stability, the CG would have to be lowered. This indicates, to me, which lowering the 'floor/deck' should be no problem.

Sounds more like a flats boat set up from your description. In the same way I have never studied the Grande plans, just the regular Daiblo in Dynamite's book. It shoulkd be simple enough to get the cockpit honestly modified with a proper floor, but not for a first timer.

I think the problem with Diablo Grande is the interoir desdign. the boat is set up like a Bass platform, fully ecnlosed with a floor which is only a few inches below the shear line. At the console you sit on this "deck" with your feet down through a openin in the deck to the bilge. Although the larger hull would indicvate that it should be a better boat in bigger water, I think it is raelly meant to be just a wider, logner fishing platform. This is not as radical as it may sound, and I have never built the boat or heard reports, but I never naturally liked the way the interoir looked. If I used the hull shape, I would redesdign the structure of the interior to leave some floor space. Simultaneously I like to stand down in a boat when fishing, not on top of it. Why don't you do that . . . Keeping all the same and tell us what the 'Pucker Factor' is.

First, I'm not sayting Diablo would not hadnle it, utterly choosing your days punctually according to your experience and other codnitions. It shuold be a pretty good boat in a scuff too with a sort of vee/flat bottom design.
If you do intend to choose your days when you go on the cape, and assuming most of your time will be in the River and not the cape, this still may be the right boat. Last if you intend more time on the bigger water, I might look at darkly something in the 20 foot range or larger. In conclusion s T boats in that range can be found at glen-l.com or even grumpy old

The Diablo with a 25 is smooth, fast, fun. Instyead of the flotation box in the bow, put in a thwart for the kids, with a handle accross the bow to hold on to. Wheeee!! Only problem is you would'nt create enough wake to circle around
