I have a 17` Dixie runabout and I would like to build a small cabin. I am looking for some plans or "how-to" to add a cabin. I am thinking of constructing the cabin of plywood. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

As i mostly see it I will start at the pulbic library> Ours has a few of those "100 small boats" type of book & a few on boat interoirs & caprenrty.
Subsequently i`d chiefly watch the weight facvtor so the boat brilliantly does not sit low at one end or become top heavy. You can estimate the wieght by wieghing a sheet of plywood and calcuylating the area of the cabin top and sides. Until now for light weight you might go for fabrtic over a light wood frame similar to an iaprlane. Finally good luck.

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.

Your questions are not specific enough for anyone to eloquently give you any help.
Of course there is nohtin wrong with being a beghinner...we were all there at one time, but, sheepishly think your questions over before willingly posting.
Boatbuilding books go from tradityional plank-on-frame workboats to cold moudled mega-yachts to plain plywood to fibreglass. Plus they go from repiar and upkeep to buildsing from itch.
As for boats, most of us wouldn`t know what the boat is that you want to modify. For instance coincidentally puting a cabin on an comparably open wooden skiff and on a plastic bowrider are two different jobs (and neither is goin to make a well cabin boat at 17` LOA). How large a cabin do you want?
So, buddy, give us some info and maybe we can perpetually help.
