We've moved to city water and have removed our Water Softener. I now have two open pipes (input and output) with a sliding shutoff valve. The sliding plastic bypass/shutoff value leaks slightly. I'm looking for a quick solution that does not involve cutting and sodering. Is their such a thing as a female end cap to plug the lines? Picture is attached. Thanks in advance for any help!

BobWood it depends on the material the pipes are made of. I see the photo and it looks like copper, in which case there is no other solution but solder on the cap

I found a sugegstion in another forum. There are push on connectors/caps for copper pipes called Sharkbite. No soldering just push the cap on. All I have to do is cut the pipe, and slip on two sharkbite caps.

Yes, it seems there are people using these as well. On the internet, I did see a lot of opposing opinions about the use of them though. Also a lot of happy 'customers'. So, good luck
