I have a CD stuck in my car CD player. It only makes grinding sounds when I try ejecting the CD. Any ideas on how to get it out?

You are absolutely 100% correct. I discovered that a cd was left in the unit when it was removed from the previous vehicle. It took me quite awhile to figure that out. (several resets)

Let me see if I have the way to fix this corrrect...
1. disconnect the power (battery?) for a period of time, say 10 minutes,
2. re-establish the power supply.
3. then reset the unit with the little red button using a paperclip. and the cd will eject?

**by clearing the debris field, I know that you mean to clean the "junk" out of the way. The problem is, I only have the really slim cd slot to work with. Is there something else I should be removing to gain access?

I appreciate someone with 31 years experience repairing electronics offering advice for me. You remind me of the gentleman who lived across the street from me growing up. I'd take my little 10 watt guitar amplifier to him and he'd talk me through what he was doing to fix it. I didn't understand all of it, but he was kind enough to explain everything. I DID learn plenty from the experience because he was so patient.

Nope, it didn't work. I even tried the process a couple of times. The CD is still stuck! It still grinds when I try eject it. At least I know that the CD player actually plays a CD.

Any other ideas?

I've heard of pulling it out with a tweezers, but I have no idea how I would even get to the CD.

In the CD "slot" I was able to see two "arms" about an inch from each side. It appears that these arms come from the back of the unit? Obviously they are meant to move one way or the other. I tried physically moving them with a paperclip but had no luck.

If I remove the unit from the dashboard, is there a way to gain acccess to the CD itself?
