I have an 18" Craftsman chainsaw that doesn't seem to be keeping the chain lubed when I use it. I bought a replacement oil pump kit for it thinking maybe the filter is clogged or the pump is not working. However to replace the oil pump & filter I need to remove the clutch assembly but I don't know how to remove it. How do I remove the clutch assembly and does it take a special tool? Or do you think there may be another reasone the chain isn't staying lubed? Thanks.

PWanderscheid welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here.

I am trying to find a repair manual (free online) but that seems almost impossible (all are for sale only) and I personally have no experience with removing the clutch from this chainsaw

You can see the parts manual for this chainsaw on the Sears Website- Model Number 358.351380 and the clutch assembly is part #530014949. But this didn't really show me how to remove it although it might help you. I appreciate any advice you can give. Thanks.

Okay, I'll give you what I know about removing clutches from chainsaws but I am not, I repeat NOT, familiar with that special model you own so please if you try this out do it with precaution. You first remove the spark plug and insert a 3 to 4" long bolt into the hole (spark plug hole) until bottom is out on top of piston. You then use a hammer and drive to loosen the clutch.
