I had a GMPP 350 H.O. crate engine that I am planning to build into a 383. All I'm going to reuse from the original engine is the block (heads and pistons are trashed). I am planning to use Dart "Iron Eagle" heads (2.02 intake/1.60 exhaust valves, 200cc intake runner). I would like the engine to produce 425-450 hp, but I am not sure what kind of camshaft to use. I want to use a stock converter (no stall) and I am unsure of how high the camlift can be. I looked into a Lunati hydraulic flat tappet cam with .468/.489 lift. I know I wont have to use a stall converter with this cam, but I don't know if it will allow for the power I am seeking. The engine will go into a 75 Monte Carlo. Other parts I'm looking into are a Weiand dual plane intake, Holley 750 carburetor, and Eagle bottom end. Any suggestions on what cam would be best would be appreciated...thanks.
