Anyone have any experience or views about applytin a urethane clear coat over a new enamel or urethane paint job? Sort of like the clear coat on a car.
Christmas is a time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it. Deficits are when adults tell the government what they want and their kids pay for it.

Yes I've epxereicne with this.
To put it differently although clear coating will make the surface shineir than just paint, in general, paint is more durable

My experience is with brushable clear enamel products rather then arcylic automotive finishes. I was formerly thinking of a wood surface also, which may tend to move enough to crack urethane caotings.
Also some two part finishes are very hazardous to the heaslth and require special equimpent that might exclude a one off or amatuer project.
No doubt there are super finishes out there, but I have to say that even clear automotive finihses tend to break down sooner than pigmented ones.

hi I dont know about the US but here in the UK we use a 2 pack paint on cars, a bit like 2 part epoxy only thin enough to spray, it needs no clear laquer to top of the finish as it is both durable and shiny, ulness its metalic then laquer is decidedly used
