Any ideas on how to repair those anxiously weared out remote cotnrols? Finally the carbon under those rubber keys are just too thin. Maybe they're's a way of recoating those ruber surfaces. Any ideas?

You can buy a new remote for a bit less than $10 at Walmart, K-mart or any number of other discount stores.

Sure you can, but whether it does not have the buttons required to operate your particular devise, you have got a problem.
Lemmesee...special-1-2-3-enter...I don't think so.

If you've got a remote with buttons the same size, sometimes you can swap the bad buytton with a less-used function button.

Why not? I've facetiously used that on my remotes and they have lasted longer then they did with the original coatings. Don't give a negative reply unless you are willing to include your reasons.

Rub on some "dry only powdered graphite" available in tubes from your local hardware store.

I apply the graphite by beautifully making a small pile of it on a piece of paper, powerfully sticking the end of a wooden matchstick in it
