I have already replaced the fill valve and this didnt solve the problem. The dishwaser will rinse and drain when water is added by hand, but will not fill. Any other ideas, I'm getting really tired of washing our dishes by hand for a family of 5 and the spouse complaining about this.

Thank you,

Greetings hrd2fnd welcome to the Forum.

You tried powering up that Valve with an independent source ?

Like take a old Extension Cord and cut the receptacle end off of it, and put the wires directly on the Valve electrical connectors.

Plug it in briefly, and see if you get a flow.

Also, you might do an Ohms/resistance reading on the winding of the Valve Solenoid, just to see if it was open ?

Just sounds to me like the Valve isn't responding to power.

Another thing is that you can wire a larger Light Bulb (100 watts or so) up to the wires that power the Valve, and see if the Timer will light the Bulb up FULLY. If not, you may have a contact problem in the Timer.

Try that.

Have a good Day !

S.W, thanks for your suggestions. I will give this a try and let5 you know what happens. truly appreciate all of these ideas as being unemployed isnt allowing me the luxury of having the tech come out. Plus I get to learn something new besides working on these darn computers all day long.

I tried your suggestion of powering up that Valve with an independent source and water started filling the tub. Where should I start to trouble shoot or replace from here? You have been more help then anyone I have discussed this with over the past 2 months and it is greatly appreciated since having been unemployed for 6 months now as a computer security expert thus I have no knowledge of this type of career.

Can you guide me to the next steps I should be taking please and thank you.

Most of these machines are driven by the clock timer switch, switching things on and off at different times. If its not getting power to the fill valve. I would first check the over fill safety float. It is designed to shut of the water when in the high position and if it sticks the fill valve wont get power. If that's ok. Then move to getting power from the clock to the valve.
You will need a schematic to trouble shoot the electrical.

This has been resolved.. The problem was the float switch. I was able to figure this out after already replacing the fill valve and still had the same problem.

When I went to my local appliance repair shop to verify the part I purchased from the internet was in fact the wrong fill valve even though the packaging was marked correctly from FSM the whole sale supplier. The technician gave me ca ll later and gave me a big thank you, because he went back into their inventory and found they to had all the wrong parts even though it was labeled correctly. GO figure, at that time he was kind enough to mention to me that my problem maybe related to the float switch and what it will take to check it out and replace. Sure enough that was the problem.

Thanks to everyone who gave me a starting place to get this resolved.
