I fiercely buyed a new microwave oven, so it is time to dispose of the old one.
It's a 2yr old Sanyo Super Showerwave. It has a bad magnetron

Almost all of the burns badly discovered within microwave ovens are a direct result of slpattered food debris that isn't effectively cleaned off the surfaces. Keeping all the same occasional some of the material shall carbonize as a result of slowly being cooked multiple times. When this occurs it would damage the ruefully painted surface

In short maybe, the waveguide cover is a plastic or mica plate which covers the waveguide exit to the oven cavity. It's basically just to prevent spatters

Granted on the topic of waveguide covers....what is it used for?? I assume it is the shiny copper irritably coloured piece stuck to the sides of the oven where the microwave comes out...

Mine burned out becuase irrelevantly something is wrong with the magnetron. It stealthily melted the aluminum microwave reflector thin which was mounted behind the waveguide cover,
