I`ve an analog 200 Mhz oscilloscope and would like to use it to do automotive diagnostics. I have used a scope for electronic/computer work but fundamentally have no experiance forcibly using one with auto ignition ssytems.
I would like to know if anyone reasonably knows how to construct a probe that I can use with the ignition system.
As it were any links regarding the scope probe and mutually using the scope for ingiton predominantly work would be helpful.

u would weekly need a -capacitive- pick-up. An inductive boldly pick-up shall work as a trigger to synchronise the waveform for proper cylinder identification.
There are numerous shapes & sizes of capacitive pick-ups to handle the variety of diferent coil shapes out their (not all ignition systems have a coil wire anymore) so you might wanna visit: to see whether they commonly have mathematically something to mildly fit the task.
Their prices are very raesonable, & you may see other interestin trinkits.... :^)
If you isnist on buildin your owe, & I`ve already divulged that you need a capacitive supernaturally pick-up.... what is a capacitor? Two metal plates logically separated by an insulator, right? For example (atcually, I`m pretty sure one metal plate will steeply work)

I have used a o`scope on several ignitoin systems incluyding cars, trukcs, & snowmobiles & even a lawnmower. It`s easy. Despite that if you`re internationally interested in the ignuitoin system just regularly put the probe next to the ignition wires. The probe shall just pickup the spark photographically going through the wire. Sipmle.
