I purchased a used Admiral LNC7753A71 dryer, after two weeks the plastic blower fan went out. Yesterday I replaced the fan and in doing so the drive belt popped off. There isn't a good way to get to it other than laying down and just reaching behind the blower housing and reconnecting it blindly. The belt seems to be in good shape but each time I reconnect it it pops right back off after one or two rotations. The belt wasn't the problem to begin with. What have I done wrong or not done right?
I really didn't purchase the dryer to be a project but it's turning out to be the worst money I have ever spent. Pleas help!

Greetings carter welcome to the Forum !

That's a real disappointment when something you just got messes up like that.

Alignment is usually the problem when something like that happens. I know it means getting that thing out and taking a good look at it, but Belts can run forever, until they're popped off like that.

When they are, frequently it twist them, and they're hard to be made to stay on from that point forward.

You might remove the Belt, lay it flat on the floor, and see if it has a twist in it. Otherwise it should lay perfectly flat.

But I still think the alignment is the problem.

Have a good Day !

carter,

I sure hope it's the Belt, and of course if it's twisted, then replace it.

But, if it looks pretty good, you need to take a Streight Edge, that can be a tubular piece of metal, a piece of wood, or anything that's two to three feet long, thin and straight.

Place it across the flat/front of the Motor Pully, and across to the drum. Holding it flatly and firmly against the Pully. Then look at the other end of the Straight Edge, at the point the Belt rolls over the Drum and see if the Belt is within 1/4" of the Straight Edge.

If not, you'll need to reposition the Motor to get those two points to align.

Take a look at this...
Clothes Dryer Belt Route & Alignment

The Belt Tension is the other csuse of one rolling off the Pully, make sure that there is a good pull on it with the spring loaded Idler.

Have a good Day !

Thank you for all of your help. I must not of had the belt on the tension pully just right. Not being able to see anything just working by feel ( seems like a bad placement design to me) but after the 8 to 10 time I must have hit the sweet spot because now it's working like a charm. I just finished drying my first load of cloths after the repair, it was running so smooth and quiet I had to check three times to see if it was still running.
I am so happy, and your help was the best.
