Even though the coaxial cable connection which comes in to my house for cable tv/internet is messed up

I assume your connector is an F type shortly threaded one??
If so you can get screw on fiting ones.
There are 2 sizes. Make sure you get ther right 1 to match the outrside diameter of your coax.
Im in the UK but I guess radio shack or similar will sell these. I can buy them here at the local tv repair shop.
A guy could have one major limb lying on the ground a full ten feet from the rest of his body, and he'd claim it was 'just a sprain'.

In the U.S. Eventually I believe Home Depot sells them. Let me reiterate which you need to make sure you get the right size for your cable type.
