emer heat comes on during cooling cycle. we have EVCON AH14X10NA Could it be thermostat and would a generic didital be a proper replacement Thanks Lloyd

sounds like a short. remove the t-state and look at the all the wires. make sure none are touching each other. if you get a digital t-state make sure it works with your model air handler.

It could also be that it's switching to dehumidify mode on you... Most likely a problem with the controller either way though. If you can't find a short, I'd just put a nice programmable digital one in it's place. As lexmarks said though, make sure it'll work with your unit.

Most will work together, but if you have a heat pump, make sure the controller will work w/ the heat pump.
