I have a 1995 Mercury Tracer and I bought a Haynes Repair Manual so I can do minor things myself. The manual never tells me where the engine block drain plug is at. I was wondering if anyone could help me or send me in the right direction.

do not need to drain that way.remove lower radiator hose remove the upper radiator hose then remove thermostat stick garden hose in top of engine where thermostat is. let it flush engine.flow on drain on block really does not flush because it tends to stop up flow to slow.let garden hose flush for 10 or 15 mins the only drain on most new cars are at the bottom radiator.mercury tracer is a low end car ford wouldnt waste extra money to add drain.over a thousand cars it adds up.i do not think it has one.

The block drain plug is normally removed only to purge air out of the block when refilling the cooling system or when it has failed (leaking or someone forgot to put antifreeze in the coolant and the cooling water froze).

It's important to use a proper tool to replace this plug. It's a press fit and if the plug gets bent going in it's practically useless.
