Hello. Shortly I was wondering whether any one here can help m?. Others would usually agree I had a power outaghe & now my Amp could not come on. Eveyrthing else works fine. As you may expect the
Standby light is lit but no power on. I have naturally unplugged it 3 times, still no power. Has it blown out & if so, is the the electric company's fault? Please advise.

Manuals are difficult to get by, unless there is a friendly member that would like to share it with you. Otherwise these things cost money mostly.

jfinpa, have you ever thought about contacting the Fischer customer service dept.? Please find the following link with their phone numbers. Hopefully they can direct you towards places they got those manuals, and if not perhaps they are willing to sell you one themselves?

OK, I will try to find out for the department you are looking for.
On the other hand, perhaps the people at the other end of the link i gave you might help you to it?

I don't understand. When addressing a manufacturer isn't he obliged to either give or sell you a manual of the product he made ?

Obliged, absolutely not (especially if YOU lost it) - but it's a good way to keep customers returning I like when companies make a .pdf version for downloading from their web site.

BTW, I just found my manual after another exhaustive search of this piled-up, rat-packed office. It was exactly where it was supposed be - getting old & senile sucks!

I'll offer to mail a copy of mine to anyone willing to pay up front for the copying, shipping enclosure, postage, and $2 for my time & gas. I have no idea what those costs would be, but I'll check it out if somebody wants one. The manual has both English and Spanish instructions, so I could just send you your desired language to reduce the copying & postage costs.

I have used the "monitor-this-thread" option, so if you want one post here. I have never used the "private message" option (stupid newbie), maybe that would be better? Anyway, just get your e-mail addy to me and we'll try to get one to you.

Robert

Eyy tell me about it

That's a great offer, Robert, very kind of you. And either way, forum or PM - I am sure people will get in touch and let you know

I wonder if setting up a special forumsection called 'manuals, datasheets and schematics' would be a good idea so that people can find these things more easily?

Tittworth, can't you scan it? That would, I think, be the fastest way to get it on your computer, no?

Jfinpa, thank you so much for your kind offer.

LOL, I was just hooking my scanner back up so I could give that a try (Jfinpa had sent me an e-mail in which he mentioned scanning manuals).

Is there a quick, easy, and free way to create a .pdf document from scanned images? Open Office writer?

Getting it into some kind of electronic form would be much better than copying and mailing it!

A special forum section for electronic documents sounds like a good idea to me!

Yes, it does really - to me as well... But let's wait until more people wanting to know about it show up

To be very honest: I have no idea and am not at all familiar with computers for knowing if a pdf doc can be made out of a scanned image. I would think it is possible and you will have to play around with the suffixes or, scan it directly to your acrobat reader, no?

I tested it yesterday and I can use the OpenOffice writer program to create a .pdf document out of the scanned images. So, I'll work out getting that done over the next couple of days.

I finally got a good .pdf document created of the RS-727 Operating Instructions manual. Very sorry for the long time to get it done. I had problems getting my old scanner running correctly on WinXP, problems getting good scans, and it took me a couple of days of expermenting with the scan resolution to get a good quality scan and yet not create a HUGE .pdf file - LOL

I would suggest the following utility for "straighten up" scans from a book/manual that does not want to lay down straight your scanner's flatbed: Screen Protactor from Iconico Inc. @ www.iconico.com.

Enjoy!

Well, the .pdf document is larger than DIY Forums allows.

You can download the manaul at: http://users.chartertn.net/robear/FisherRS727.pdf

Let me know if you have any problems with the document.

Glad to contribute to a GREAT do-it-yourself help site. Always remember that "exchange of information" was why the Internet was originally started.

This stereo is known to have a problem with the reset on the microprocessor
IC . I have found by grounding the reset pin on the micro that it will reset
the unit so that it will turn on again. I just looked for my manual for the
RS727; and did not find it so I could definitely confirm the pin number. I
believe that it is pin 19 but I am not sure about that. I looked on a RS646
and it is pin 21 instead so if anyone has a schematic to look up this for
the gentleman then I believe this will do the job for him.
The tech advisor in Toronto even suggested putting a momentary switch
attached to this port to temporarily ground the line if it got stubborn and
mount the switch on the back panel of the stereo.

I have had this problem after a lightning strike or power surge, even with a surge protector. Most of the time the unit resets within a few minutes.

However, one time in particular, it wouldn't reset even after a few hours - actually a couple of days. I even went out shopping for a new receiver, thinking something was fried. But on the third day (seriously) I plugged the thing in again, and, voila, it turned on an operated perfectly ever since.

Not being an electronic technician, but having bonded with this type of stuff over a few decades, I suspect the thing needed time for a capacitor to discharge below a certain level before it allowed itself to turn on. And in this case it needed a few days. Go figure.
