Hello,

I have broken the plug to my Dyson and TV whilst moving.
so now they are now 2 pin and i have to push a pencil or something in, into the wall socket in order to push the plug in.

Is there anyway i can replace the plug, i notice the Dyson has a 2 colored plug, white inside and grey outside.
the pins are connected to the white bits, is there a way i can replace the white bits?

Diy_dude, I have tried and tried over to sketch a picture of what you are explaining, but am unable to. Why do you have to push a pencil in the wall socket for pushing the plug in? I simply can't understand

thanks for the reply,

i have taken a couple of snaps of the plug of the dyson which show the third pin broken and necessitating the need to poke a pen or pencil into the socket in the wall.

would appreciate help to fix the plug.

I am so sorry that I still don't understand the problem. All I would do in your place is buy a new plug and replace the broken one. But I am guessing that is not the problem? In any case - you could phone the Dyson customer help line to ask where in your area these parts can be bought at 7000 435 7546 (monday to friday 09:00-18:00 and saturdays until 13:00) if there seems to be a problem finding this plug

thanks for the reply,

would i need to snip the wire and replace the plug completely. or is the white portion replaceable?

i will give dyson a call and ask them for the part (hope they do sell it)

I think you will have to replace the whole thing. But, it's better to ask Dyson themselves since they know for sure. Let me know what came out of it

Hello,

I spoke to the Dyson guy, very professional and helpful guy on the other end.
Turns out that i have a 2 year warranty which covers manufacturing faults.

I think someone stamped on the plug breaking it when i was moving to my new accommodation so am not sure if i can go for fixing under warranty.

if it does not turn out to be a manufacturing fault, then it is 40 pounds to fix.

the cable itself (they dont sell the plug) is 17 pounds, however one needs to get into the dyson to fix it.

the last option if getting a heavy duty rubberised plug form B&Q or homebase instead othe bakelite plugs and fixing it.
i like the last option, what do you think?

Diy-Dude, I am not familiar with American phrases so I don't understand what B&Q means

OK, thanks

I don't think your last option is the wisest though. If anything goes wrong you have no warranty and might end up paying the full price of a suitable cable/plug anyway.

But, this is only my personal opinion

tanks for the reply jeffie,

i wwas told by the dyson help desk that using a rubberised plug does not void the warranty on the main unit.

the callout charge in case damage to the dyson plug is because of negligence is 25 pounds

hey i found the third pin (earth pin) of the plug.

some how (some one had probably stepped on the plug) the pin has come out, can this earth pin be pushed back in.

is it possible to remove the white coloured porton of the plug from the grey colour portion?
