We are putting a floor in our attic so we can use it for storage. The attic has blown-in insulation sitting between the joists which -- I have been told -- is made of formaldehyde and paper.

Should I be getting rid of this stuff? Is it a problem? Or, can I just cover it with plywood flooring and expect no health consequences for me, my wife, or my kids?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gbeb, welcome to the forum

If there are no formaldehyde concentrations (a formaldehyde test can be performed by some institutions) there shouldn't be a health hazard in leaving it.

Jeffie:

Thanks much for the reply. What kind of testing firm would I look for? As an FYI, I live in San Francisco.
