Have a 6 year old (approx) GE fridge/freezer. Freezer will not get cold but the fridge does. Besides snide comments, are there any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Greetings sweetrl welcome to the Forum !

HA snide comments, what are those !

Your problem has to be in the Air Valve, which directs the flow to the Freezer and Frig. Probably it's clogged with Ice, and you need to do a "special" defrost.

I've got an old Magic Chef that does about the same thing, and I pull the Meat and anything else out of the Freezer, Milk too from the Frig, cover it with a towel for a while (1 hour or more).

Unplug the Frig, and I have a Box Fan which I set in front of it, both doors open, and blow room air into it. Sometimes it takes just over an hour, but, you can see the discharge into the catch pan, and when it sorta stops, you know you got it. Try that.

Have a good Day !

Many thanx to the two folks who responded....I tried them both. I ended up getting a repairman who specializes in GE and he diagnosed it to be the main computer board...don't know the tech. name but apparantly everything electric goes thru this thing and there is no way to fix it in the field. (That's the story I got) I was looking at warming meat, ruined food and about twelve hundred bucks for a half-way decent fridge so I paid $400 to get it replaced. It worked and still does. I may be an "easy mark" but...it working is better than it not working, I guessed and besides I needed to get on with my life and get to work too. thanx

I had an identical problem with my side by side. The problem was that the auto defrost timer failed and the freezer coils froze up and no cooling went to the freezer section. Hope this helps.
