Hi people.
I'm having a very odd problem with my fridge. Moffat Model MRS 1991. Noticed water under it and found drip tray over flowing. A steady driping coming from both drain tube and from back. What I have done is:
1/Vacuumed condenser
2/Assessed evaperator and melted any ice
3/Removed feed for ice maker to eliminate that as cause
4/Checked fan units
5/Checked drain pipe and cleaned anyway
Have had to empty tray twice a day so about 10 cups of water daily. Yikes.....
Am now thinking the timer for defrost cycle may be stuck on but have a hard time thinking that would cause this much dripping.
Any ideas??????

Pipes,

Wow what a hassle!
Usually the Fan gives off enough air to blow over the tray, and evaporate the collected water!
You say the Fan is working, but has/is there any restriction in the air flow.
Something in the way?
Room excessively humid, where the evaporation is compromised?
My best offers.

Have a good Day !

Everything is clear. Just too much dripping for evaporation process. Working like a dehumidifier.
Never checked fridge portion for evaporater but think it uses the same as freezer. Not excessive humidity neither. Where is this humid air coming from? Seals appear good as well. I know the refridgeration process and have actually had training on it. Still need to check the defrost timer but have not had the time. Almost the only thing left but have a hard time beleiving that could cause this. And temperature dials operate normal, turn them up/down and temperature changes accordingly. Really starting to piss me off. Don't think a bad senser could cause this neither.
HELP......
Thanks for the input Karma

Pipes,

This is a long shot but...

You got two doors on it? I've had problems with one Icing up excessively, when loading the unit (both doors open) causing a lot of Ice to build up.

Given my defrost was working well, it dumped a LOT of water into the catch.
Can you control this (doors) open just one at a time?

Have a good Day !

Thanks S.W.
Actually have 3 doors. 2 freezer doors and right side is fridge. Have the anti door freeze turned on so there is no moisture build up along the seals.
It's the amount of water which is hard to figure out. A steady drip..... over 8 cups daily.
Waiting til weekend to have time to look at the defrost timer. Anyone know what happens if it's stuck "on".

Checked out the defrost timer and is good.
Steady drip continues.
Where is the water coming from? Works better then my dehumidifier in the humid summer????

Pipes,

Gees, this is even a longer shot than before but....

You think it may be Fresh Water, do your Ice-Maker lines run somewhere they may drip and that be routed into the Tray, if something isn't tight or cracked?

I found it. Came to me in some deep thinking and ended up been like SW said as well. When the impossible the solution is the most unlikely. As a test I turned off the supply under the sink and put up with the drip under there. (Cheap punch through value) And tray stopped filling up. Took electric icemaker valve out to closer look at it. Even though it was not dripping from there. Turned water back on and what do you know, it had a VERY fine stream which was ever hard to see. Actually felt it hitting my hand first. And it was directed upwards and in slightly making it hit the back wall inside the fridge. Therefore the valve itself stayed dry and dripped down the wall. The pin hole is on the plastic casting itself and nothing to do with connections. What a fluky defect and bet if I had a pro come in he would have taken forever to find as well.
For now have the valve stuck in a bucket and will pick up some good epoxy to repair. Have great stuff at work. Turn water off again, clean with alcohol and apply. Should work fine.
Thanks SW for your input.
