I noticed that fuel was leaking out from under my 1997 astro van right where the fuel tank is. It does NOT leak when the engine is off but pours when it is started. It also sounds like the fuel pump rattles when you turn on the ignition before starting. Could it be loose or something else and why does the fuel drain out when started.

jack the car up and look underneath. are the fuelines detached from the tank. what it sounds like is the pump is loose or disconnected from the fuel lines so when the engine is started the pump comes on a sprays fuel all over the place.

Thanks lex, I dropped the fuel tank and found that the fuel line going into the fuel pump was cracked and spewing fuel out. I had to get a new fuel pump to solve the problem but,,,,,you were essentially right. Thanks again.
