Garage door opener

I have an old Craftsman garage door opener that just quit working - model 139.53627SRT - manufacture date 6/95. It hums for a couple seconds when I hit the button but thats it - no movement at all. There is a green light that blinks 5 times - code for something but I dont have a manual. I am going to take the chain off and see if the motor will turn manually - other suggestions?

I think you should have the system repaired or even replaced because of home security issue. If it does not work well, someone might have tried to break in.

If you have an itrgrated security system and garage is just a part of it there might be some programming problem as well, or simply the engine is to weak for the door.
