I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my oven.
Our oven is a Admiral Oven Broiler.

The pilot IS lit but the oven burner took a long time lighting (sometimes 30 min sometimes never sometimes you smell gas).
The pilot is extending when the thermostat is tuned to ON. When the pilot is extending, the oven gas valve took a long time opening/flaming.

1. How long does oven gas valve opens when the pilot already extends?

2. What are the probable causes of this too long to open oven gas valve?

3. Is it normal to smell gas when the pilot light already is extended (flame not yet on)? What is the cause of this?

hi herbolaryo, welcome to the forum.
Have you already asked the Admiral service people?

You need a service manual for this. I will see if I can come up with one (via a recognized online site) - but that'll take time

if may memory serves me right i beleive this is a magic cheif stove it sound like theirs two problems the thermostat bulb is not sensing the pilot flame the oven thermostat or temp control needs replaceing.also gas valve has gotten moisture in and its sticking valve seat is damaged or pitted.this was a common failure with magic cheif stoves they were cheaply built not bad when they worked cook good.the pilot flame has to engulf bulb at least two or three seconds before the gas valve opens.you may want to turn the pilot lite up a little with preset adj.to engulf thermostat bulb to open faster.but i still recommend replaceing gas valve and temp control simple about 45min job.make sure you turn off gas and electric for safty reasons when servicing.
