what is the gear ration for a stock c/k1500 silverodo 1988

3.73 was common, but there are several others that it could come with, there might be a tag in your glove compartment or in the engine bay somewhere that has a GMC code, or you can take your vin # to GM and they might tell you for free.

Also, if with a 700R4 auto trans. 3.42 was very common. I have a '88 GMC full size van with this setup.

Don't Chevies have a metal tag with the ratio on one of the cover bolts ?

It's rumored that the posi-traction ones had a tag.

But also, usually on top of the, I'm gonna guess, left axle tube, they stamped code numbers that would give some info on the gearing.
