Since a few days ago, the charging unit isn't behaving as it should on the Gigaset 2011 I have at home.

At first, I thought the batteries were just out of juice so I got a pair of new rechargeable batteries. After that, everything seemed ok... Until I began to have charging issues once again.

Basically, whenever I place the phone on the base, it won't even attempt to charge up. However, depending on how I place the phone, it might begin to charge (but, the charging LED blinks a little - as if there was some kind of bad connection going on between the phone and the base)...

After a few maneuvers, I got the phone charging but only momentarily.

I'm thinking this is due to a bad contact on the base rather than on the phone, given the way those springy contacts work...

Visually, both the phone and the base charging contacts are OK. Internally, it might be a different story.

I wish I had another phone/base set to iron-out the bugger... but right now I can only guess.

Any ideas?. I'm not opening the base nor the phone until I get some feedback from your previous experiences... I just don't want to ruin it.

Thanks.

Hi adnimo, welcome to the forum I am happy you joined us.

It sure seems to me this problem is caused by bad contact. However it wouldn't harm your base if you'd only open it up to inspect the inside

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome

I'm going to inspect it today, I used a voltimeter to check the voltage on the base and its null, any ideas?. the transformer is OK, its giving out almost 12V - the batteries are also OK.

I figure theres another problem with this phone since it loses the tone after using it for a while, it fades to silence while talking! - any ideas what could it be?

Thanks.
