Hi
I am putting up some shelves on a wall that is a very dense plywood, and have to hit the nails 30-40 times to get them through 5/8".
I am using a spiral standard 1 1/2 nails... Am I doing this wrong? do you have any suggestions for me?
Thanks

Sounds like you might have a bouncey issue. . Sheet goods can get 'bouncey' when you are nailing into them, and if it moves even a bit, the energy is transfered to flexing the sheet as opposed to driving the nail.

the harder a sheet good is, the worse this becomes, because you need more energy to penetrate the board.

In your case, if you are having that much trouble, I would say screw it! literally!

Good luck!
