What is the best way to get into the heater core for my grand am? Am I going to have to disassemble the whole dash to get to it or is there an easier way? Thanks

Remove in this order: heater hoses, covers under the dash, console, glovebox, heater cover, heater core.
IIRC, there are 9 7mm screws on the heater cover.
Careful with the rubber drain 90.
Get a copper replacement core. Aluminum replacements only last one year.
The buck stops here.

My daughter has a 1995 Grand AM SE and we are in the process of doing the heater core too. We've got all the screws out except for the one at the very front up by the firewall which you cannot see. Ours have all been 5.5mm screws. Is this one a different size????? I've got all the hoses off. Gary Vancouver,Wa.

Hi garyH, welcome to the forum

Having read over the internet what you are asking I must say that this shouldn't be a different size screw. I did read however that unscrewing all screws is a bit of a headache and taking some time.
